What to Expect Before and After Your Dermal Filler Treatment

Within the two days leading up to your dermal filler appointment, it is recommended that the use of all anti-aging products that contain specific exfoliating ingredients such as glycolic acid, retinol, tretinoin, and others be avoided at this point. Patients should also avoid certain types of hair removal treatments being used on the area that is going to be treated at this time, including shaving, waxing, threading, plucking, or using any hair removal creams.

On the actual day of the appointment, patients should plan to arrive with a freshly washed face that is free of any topical products or makeup. Some patients may choose to apply a topical numbing cream before the appointment, which is always allowed but should be mentioned to your dermal filler specialist so that they are made aware. It is also recommended that all patients have something to eat and drink before their appointment to prevent feeling faint.
